    This statement, which was sent to the Nicaraguan press on April 15, 2002, calls for a thorough investigation of the murder of Francisco Garcia on April 8.  Mr. Garcia is the husband of Maria Luisa Acosta, a lawyer for the Nicaraguan Center for Legal Assistance to Indigenous Peoples.
