Grassroots Organizations

The Colombia Human Rights Committee educates the US on human rights in Colombia and supports initiatives of Colombian communities seeking peace and social justice by non-violent means.

EPICA (Ecumenical Program on Central America and the Caribbean) raises critical awareness about the impact of corporate globalization and militarism in the Americas and the struggle of the poor to create just and peaceful alternatives. Through publications, workshops, and delegations to the region, EPICA mobilizes people to challenge the unjust policies of economic globalization.

The Fellowship of Reconciliation is a pacifist, interfaith organization. Its Task Force on Latin America and the Caribbean promotes demilitarized US policy, especially in Colombia and Puerto Rico.

Global Exchange is an international human rights organization dedicated to promoting environmental, political and social justice. Since our founding in 1988, we have increased the US public's global awareness while building partnerships worldwide.

Guatemala Human Rights Commission documents, monitors and publishes bi-monthly human rights conditions in Guatemala. We provide advocacy for victims of human rightsabuses, primarily through our in-country women's community mental health program.

The Mexico Solidarity Network is dedicated to the struggle for democracy, economic justice and human rights on both sides of the US-Mexico border. The Network believes that civil society must play the leading role in development of these values. Our program develops grassroots consciousness and organizing skills, increases links between Mexican and US-based civil society, increases educational opportunities so that people on both sides of the border can better understand common problems and can develop effective strategies, and increases opportunities for strategic, effective activism that will impact bi-national policies.

Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of internationally recognized human rights. Founded in 1983, Minnesota Advocates is one of the largest Midwest-based non-governmental organizations engaged in international human rights work.

NETWORK, A National Catholic Social Justice Lobby, educates, lobbies, and organizes to influence the formation of federal legislation to promote economic and social justice.

For almost 25 years,the Nicaragua Network has provided information and organizing tools to solidarity and peace and justice committees across thecountry working in support of sound U.S. policies toward Nicaragua.

NISGUA is a national grassroots organization that promotes human rights and social justice in Guatemala through publications, speaking tours, advocacy, urgent action alerts, and human rights accompaniment.

Oxfam America is dedicated to finding long-term solutions to poverty, hunger, and social injustice around the world. We work to eliminate the root causes of social and economic inequities by challenging the structural barriers that foster conflict and human suffering and limit people from gaining the skills, resources, and power to become self-sufficient.

Peace Brigades International and Peace Brigades International/USA support efforts for justice and human rights through nonviolent action, fielding teams of unarmed international observers to offer protective accompaniment of threatened activists in conflict areas including Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia, and Mexico.

SHARE supports historically impoverished and marginalized communities in El
Salvador as they construct long-term, sustainable solutions to poverty and injustice through advocacy, rural development projects and physical and moral accompaniment.

STITCH is a network of women unionists, organizers, and activists that builds connections between Central American and US women organizing for economic justice. STITCH seeks to create a world where women workers are able to improve their lives through organizing and exercising their rights.

US Labor Education in the Americas Project supports workers in Latin America, especially those employed directly or indirctly by U.S. companies, through advocacy and corporate campaigns. US/LEAP focuses its support on workers who are organizing for dignity and justice and seeking to build their own power.

The U.S. Office on Colombia (USOC) seeks to educate U.S. policymakers, the media and public about the impact of U.S. policy on Colombia. By supporting Colombian civil society initiatives and broadening knowledge, understanding and debate it aims to assist in the development of policy solutions.

Voices on the Border promotes sustainable and equitable human development in El Salvador through long-term community based partnerships, grassroots organizing and accompaniment.

Witness for Peace supports peace, justice and sustainable economies in the Americas by working to change US policies and corporate practices in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our strategies include transformational travel, personal witness, popular education, and grassroots activism.
