Thursday September 12th marks the 15th Anniversary of the arrest of the Cuban 5. For those of you near the Washington, DC area there are a few events that the National and International Committees for the Freedom of the Cuban 5 are organizing to commemorate the unjust imprisonment of the Cuban 5.
• Wednesday September 11th at 6:30PM Stephen Kimber will present his new book “What Lies Across the Water-The Real Story of the Cuban Five” at Busboys and Poets, 2021 14th St NW, Washington DC
• Thursday September 12th at 12:00PM there will be a vigil held in front of the White House (across the street from Lafayette Park)to advocate for justice on behalf of the Cuban 5.
• Thursday September 12th from 7:00PM to 9PM Stephen Kimber will present his new book “What Lies Across the Water-The Real Story of the Cuban Five” Refreshments 7:00PM; Program 7:30PM, Owen Brown Community Center, 6800 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, MD 21045
• Friday, September 13th at 6:00PM the University of the District of Columbia School of Law will host “The Case of the Cuban Five: Justice of Injustice?” with panelists, Danny Glover (Actor, producer and humanitarian) Richard Klugh (Trial and appellate attorney on Cuban Five legal team), Mara Verheyden-Hilliard (Executive Director, Partnership for Civil Justice Fund), Crisarla Houston (Associate Professor and Legal Writing Program Director), Gloria La Riva (Coordinator, National Committee to Free the Cuban Five) Location: Moot Court Room, Univ of DC Law School, 4200 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008
