We’ve got some exciting news! After months of our tireless activism, bills have been introduced in both the House and the Senate with the aim to protect millions of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients. This is an important first step to ensuring permanent protection for these long-standing members of our communities. Don’t wait—tell Congress to show their support NOW!

These bills have been years in the making. And they wouldn’t have made it this far without all the hard work of dedicated activists, like YOU. Let’s ramp up our efforts and get them passed.

Call your representative and two senators and demand they get on board TODAY!

Here’s a breakdown of the bills:

In the House of Representatives, H.R.6 – American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 was introduced by Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, Rep. Nydia Velázquez, and Rep. Yvette Clarke in mid-March and has over 224 cosponsors. It is bold and inclusive—it would protect two million people by giving them a pathway to citizenship, including Dreamers who moved to the United States as minors before 2015 and TPS and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients who’ve called the United States their home for decades.

In the Senate, there are two bills: S. 874 – Dream Act of 2019 was introduced by Senators Dick Durbin and Lindsey Graham in late-March. This is a bipartisan bill that provides a pathway to citizenship and protection from deportation to potentially millions of immigrant youth. Safe Environment from Countries Under Repression and in Emergency (SECURE) Act was announced in late-March by Senators Chris Van Hollen, Ben Cardin, Dianne Feinstein, and Tim Kaine. It covers over 400,000 TPS and DED holders.

The bills have been introduced. And now you can make sure they make it to a vote. Take ten minutes to make three calls. Show your support for Dreamers and TPSianos!

The Dream Act of 2019 (S. 874) is a bipartisan bill that provides a pathway to citizenship and protection from deportation for potentially millions of immigrant youth. You can contact Senators Durbin and Graham to add your support. In addition, I urge the senator to support the Safe Environment from Countries Under Repression and in Emergency (SECURE) Act, which provides protection to over 400,000 TPS and DED holders. The pressure is on. Congress has the opportunity to protect two million immigrants whose safety was ruthlessly stripped away by the Trump Administration. And Congress can provide this much-needed permanent protection without paying for a wasteful wall and excessive border forces.
