LAWGEF and a coalition of U.S. and Colombian civil society organizations published Protect Colombia’s Peace: Why Colombia’s Peace Matters to the United States and Latin America, and What the United States Can Do About It. The report outlines the advances and the serious challenges for full implementation of Colombia’s historic 2016 peace accords. It then details recommendations for how the U.S. government can, through diplomacy and aid, encourage the Colombian government to fully and faithfully implement the accords and protect Colombia’s endangered human rights defenders, social leaders, and Afro-Colombian, indigenous, and poor farming communities.
